Mental Health Awareness is something that isn’t always talked about in the dance world. As a dancer, you are told to fit a certain mold and to have great technique and often times get reprimanded for not being perfect. This pressure can lead dancers to gain problems with their mental health. It becomes survival mode as dancers strive for perfection in this stressful environment. In this project, dancers showcased phrases that have affected their mental health over the years. Whether this statement is something that has been told a million times or just once, these words have impacted these dancers. By tearing these words, dancers are able to release the pressure of being perfect and the idea of fitting into a mold. Once the pressure was released, they were able to dance freely without exterior pressure.
